Too Many Stops!

People are often surprised that it takes them so long to get to and from the airport on a shuttle bus. They don’t stop to think that if there are 10 people at 10 different locations, that eats up a lot of time. If you calculate 15 minutes for each stop, it adds up to a total of 150 minutes or 2 ½ hours.

When you calculate the difference in price between a shuttle and a private car service…then divide it by 2.5…you may discover that you haven’t saved very much.

It depends on what you think your time and comfort is worth.

If you want to ride in comfort and save your valuable time, go to

It’s Shortcake Time!

The Florida Strawberry Festival starts tomorrow in Plant City, just east of Tampa. Good food, good music, and fun for everyone.

If you’ve never been to one of these…it’s a must-see event. The food is worth the trip…but there is so much more. There are midway rides, and various 4-H and agriculture exhibits. Tour “Cracker Country” where you can see how Florida’s early settlers lived.

At the end of the day enjoy a concert by top name entertainers. This year they have The Gatlin Brothers, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Jake Owens, Kool and the Gang, and many more. Everyone should come away happy.

The Drivers Make the Difference

While I was driving a client to the airport, we got into a discussion about the reasons she stayed with “XYZ Company.” (Many of us drive as sub-contractors for this company.)
She was very frustrated by the service at the reservations and dispatch areas of this company. She’d had many bad encounters in including a certain degree of rudeness. (She uses their service at least twice a week.)

She stated that, “The only reason she stays with them is due to the drivers.” The drivers seem to make up for the deficiencies in the other areas.

Why put yourself through that. Simply go to

Knights With A Heart!

Knights with a Heart is a program that started a few years ago by The Krewe of The Knights of Sant’ Yago. It’s a way to bring part of the Gasparilla celebration to those people who couldn’t attend the parades and other festivities.
Krewe members in costume visit various area hospitals on Valentine’s Day, and pass out beads, toys, and goodies to sick children, injured veterans, and cancer patients in an effort to bring a little cheer into their lives.
They arrive in the Krewe Trolley (used in parades) and spend time at James Haley Veterans Hospital, St Joseph’s Children’s Hospital, Tampa General Hospital, and the Moffitt Cancer Center at the University of South Florida.
With the Knight Parade falling on Valentine’s Day this year, the Krewe opted to go on the day before, February 13th. This is one of the events that is near and dear to all of the Krewe member’s hearts.

Perfect Weather, Near-perfect Parade

The weather was picture-perfect for the Gasparilla Parade this past Saturday. In the mid 70’s with no humidity, this was a chamber of commerce dream. There were huge and for the most part, well-behaved crowds for this annual Tampa event.

The only problems that I saw were a couple of float or vehicle breakdowns along the parade route. The Plant High football team’s float had a malfunction…but they carried on like the champions they are. They got off and marched in the parade.

Next Saturday, February 14th is the Knights of Sant Yago’s annual Illuminated Knight Parade. This is the largest illuminated parade in the South East U.S. and is quite a beautiful parade. All of the entries glow with thousands of lights as they make their way through Tampa’s famed Latin Quarter, Ybor City.

Imagine that! Below freezing in Tampa.

This morning it was 28 degrees according to the outside thermometer on my fence. This definitely NOT Florida weather...at least not here in the Tampa Bay area.
It is supposed to warm up by Saturday, just in time for the Gasparilla Invasion and Parade.
If you plan on drinking (and everyone does at these parades) be sure to make arrangements with Tampa Bay Town Cars to take you where you want to go. they can be found at www.tampabaytowncars.com
Stay warm.

Coming up next in Tampa Bay

The Super Bowl is over. The Steelers won. But, there are still big doings here in Tampa Bay. The Florida State Fair opened this weekend and the Gasparilla Pirate Invasion and parade is this Saturday, February 7th. If you’ve never attended one of these…it’s a must-see parade and party. Lots of beads, wenches, and grog. As always… if you need a ride, go to http://www.tampabaytowncars.com/ and pick your driver.

We spoke too soon!

So much for the nice weather. It rained last night and the temperature dropped. As of 11:15 A.M., it is a brisk 55 degrees and windy. Hopefully it will warm up in time for the game.
For those of you coming to the Gasparilla Celebration, that is coming up on Saturday, February 7th. If the weather is nice we can expect some large crowds. In this economy, free events should draw more people.
There will be a lot of partying going on for this event as well as The Illuminated Knight Parade the following week on the 14th.
Have a good time and remember… if you need a ride, go to

There IS Room at the Inn

According to an article in the Tampa Tribune, there are still rooms available for the Super Bowl. If you’re coming in at the last minute…that’s good news. If you are a business in Tampa Bay…that’s bad news.
During the last Super Bowl that was here, rooms were booked as far east as Lakeland and as far south as Sarasota. I guess the economic climate has slowed things down…even for the Super Bowl.
Now that you know you can get a room…come on down and visit our beautiful city. Negotiate for room rate. AND… if you need a ride, go to

Finally! Florida weather is back.

As we ramp-up for Super Bowl XLIII, the weather has returned. The past few days have been cold (at least for us Floridians) and we don’t like it.
But…sunny skies and warm weather are here again. Mid 70’s in the daytime and 50-60 at night. (Can you say “Nearly Perfect?”)
If you aren’t here…we’ll be thinking about you. If you are here…then you know why we love it.

And remember...if you need a ride, go to http://www.tampabaytowncars.com/ and pick your driver.

Gasparilla Extravaganza

This Saturday January 24th, will see more than just the opening of The NFL Experience at Raymond James Stadium. If you’re in town, be sure and head down to Bayshore Boulevard in Tampa for the Gasparilla Extravaganza. Known locally as “The Gasparilla Children’s’ Parade,” this is an annual event that kicks of the parade season in Tampa Bay.
This year there will be a Bicycle Safety Rodeo for the kids, a Preschoolers Stroll (for those too young to toss beads in the parade) and the parade itself. Children of the various Krewe members get to ride on the big-people floats and toss beads to cheering crowds.
There will be a fly-over by vintage aircraft and a fireworks display at the end. This is an alcohol-free event in keeping with the family-friendly theme.
Come on down an enjoy the festivities. And remember...if you need a ride, go to

Super Bowl XLIII (43)

Welcome to Tampa Bay Town Cars Blog
This blog is an offshoot of our website at http://www.tampabaytowncars.com/ .
It's purpose is to keep our clients from out of town (and some who live here) informed as to what's going on in the Tampa Bay area. And to let you know why we love living here.
For thr next two weeks, all of the hype will be centered around the Super Bowl at Raymond James Stadium here in Tampa.
Beginning this Saturday, the NFL Experience opens on the grounds surrounding Raymond James Stadium. There is a huge tent-city that will house the events. If you come...plan on doing some walking. The area is about ten blocks long by 4-5 blocks wide. (It may be bigger. This is just a visual estimate.)
If you are in the area, be sure to attend the Gasparilla Pirate Extravaganza and Childrens Parade on Bayshore Boulevard in Tampa. this is a family-friendly event that will delight "children" of ALL ages.
The weather looks like it will be perfect...with highs in the low to mid 70's and lots of sunshine.
So come on down and share our beautiful bay area with us. And remember...if you need a ride, go to http://www.tampabaytowncars.com/ and pick your driver.
